Brock and Becca, On Manitoulin Island (Soft cover)

Excerpt: This time the sound came from behind me, and to my right. I was almost afraid to look around. Becca was silently pointing, so I looked and saw the big bear which had been in the house with Goldilocks. As I watched it stood up, towering over us. "Come on, Becca," I said quietly. "We are going to walk very slowly out of here. If we run, they will think we are afraid and will come after us." I didn't believe a word I had said, but my knees were so weak I didn't think I could run. I still had a hold on Becca's hand so I took the first step, keeping an eye on the wolf, and waiting for one of the bear's paws to land on me. I couldn't believe it. Becca walked slowly beside me. We passed within ten feet of the growling wolf, but he seemed to be more interested in the bear than in us. The cave grew darker as we rounded the corner. There was no longer even a faint light from above. We were tripping on stones, and walking though puddles. Behind us were dreadful sounds of two large animals in deadly combat. I thought I was going to throw up.
